Tŷ Gwyn

An inspiring escape for six by the sea with Llanddona beach at the bottom of the garden.

Wind your way down to the beach past the patchwork farmland and rolling hills of unspoilt Llanddona to arrive at Tÿ Gwyn. Perched on the edge of the beach, this semi-detached and beautifully converted former stone barn offers an abundance of peace and incomparable views.

A vast sky hangs above and the light changes by the minute. When the sun shines, you can be on the beach in minutes or explore the island with Tÿ Gwyn as your base. Children (and dogs!) will love the ice cream bothy on the beach. When it rains, you fire up the wood-burner and watch ships pass by through the vast windows, as the weather puts on a show just for you. As dusk falls, you can recline on the sheltered veranda and watch the sun go down.

Interiors of wood, brick and stone have a cool, uncluttered design – a warm mix of old and new that works perfectly. The smart soft grey sofa sits harmoniously in the airy open plan sitting room with a fully equipped kitchen on hand. A long dining table is great for eating together, overlooking the coastal views. You may just prefer fresh langoustines cooked on a barbecue and washed down with bubbly outside in the garden!

Two double rooms with comfy beds have sea views, and what better way to fall asleep than to the sound of the waves? Fight over the one with the en-suite lavatory! The twin room is simple and airy. The large family bathroom is beautifully decorated and with bath and separate shower begs to be relaxed in.

Elsewhere, there are wildflowers, hills to climb, kayaks to explore the coast and golf links with stunning views. The sandy blue flag beach of Llanddona runs for miles around to Red Wharf Bay and on to Benllech, with loads of eating places along the way. Walk the other way on the Coastal Path all the way to Penmon to find a magnificent lighthouse, Puffin Island and views to the Great Orme.

Beaumaris is a stunning Georgian seaside town and is only ten minutes away by car. Here you will find an incredible array of places to eat, shops to browse in and even a castle! Don’t fancy going far but wish to eat out? Easy – head up the hill where you will find the Owain Glyndwr pub. This is where your delicious welcome cake comes from as you arrive at Tÿ Gwyn and they serve up a very warm welcome too.

“Thank you for a fabulous week at Ty Gwyn. Although the weather wasn’t great the accommodation was brilliant. One of the family had mobility issues however the layout in the cottage meant that access wasn’t a problem. The location of the cottage is perfect with amazing views across to Benllech and Moelfre and easy walks across the wide sandy beach (when the tide is out) and for the wheelchair, we could easily walk along the quiet lane adjacent to the beach. The cottage is really well equipped however we did miss chopping boards and a measuring jug. We are looking forward to booking Ty Gwyn again very soon.”

“I just wanted to let you know what a fabulous time we had at Ty Gwyn, Llanddona, during our stay a couple of weeks ago.  The accommodation was delightful, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had everything to make our stay a big success.  The weather was absolutely glorious (which obviously helped) and the location is so tranquil and beautiful that we certainly didn’t want to leave.  We spent most of our time early morning and evenings sat outside drinking in the fabulous view and we shall certainly be returning.”
