A Grade II listed country estate with manor house for 12 and cottage for 4
Back

The sense of timelessness in this deep country setting helps 21st-century worries drift away as you approach. Down a long drive swathed with wild nature to the most romantic line of trees, and then across the lawn to the first peek of the most ancient, Grade two listed Ty Fry estate. The estate consists of the manor house (sleeping 12) and the cottage (sleeping 4), all set within 14 acres of notable gardens.

Full Description

Folk with a yen for a homely country escape very close to the coast, and a taste for all things ancient, will love this 17th Century gentry house idyll. With roots from 1679 the manor stands within extensive grounds and historical gardens – blessed for happy gatherings of up to 12. You’re firmly in the countryside and walks from the door will take you through gentle slopes and woodland filled with birdsong and the odd rumbling tractor. 14 acres of historic gardens and adventure. Children will have fun – space galore and woods to roam – and a dog is very welcome too.

The star of the show is the large drawing room designed by Clough Williams-Ellis with vast amounts of seating and a smart TV. Light pours through tall windows into the striking space, with massive wood-burner. The room opens onto a terrace -step out to a swathe of lawn, big enough for children to play games and lots of spring and summer colour plants, especially selected for scent. Soft mosses, woodland trails offer pockets of loveliness – the new year snowdrops are renowned. On balmy evenings feast on your supper out here at Ty Fry Gardens and Grounds and spot a squirrel.

Or if the weather is foul, dine in style in the dining room – catering can be arranged if you come as a group. As the fire twinkles in the glass of the cut glass decanter. Pour a glass of brandy and move next door to hunker down in the large, beamed front hall, with yet another large fire - everything is warm and generous. Light pours in through pretty window in the kitchen to reveal deep, vibrant colours, a painted panelled housekeeping cupboard and exposed stone floors. An Aga is a joy for hearty large meals and there’s a big island for joining in the food chopping. Keen foodies will be up with the lark and off to the Menai Seafood Company to round the freshest catch. The less lively can idle on the sofa in the breakfast room with a book or simply gaze out of the windows. A small WC cloaks room is handy on the ground floor and there is s drying room for wet days with soggy boots and dripping gear to keep everybody happy.

Bedrooms, with crisp linen and pretty fabrics have long green views over the stunning gardens and countryside. The colourful bedrooms are all different. Some are enormous, one has a wardrobe you could sleep in! Window seats for places to ponder and romantic panelled nooks to dwell in. No light pollution gives you starry skies and the peace nudges a healthy sleep. You’ll find two large panelled big bathrooms in pastel shades with baths fit for a King or Queen. Plus, a deeply blue bathroom with a bath for an indulgent soak.
