The most magical beach bolthole for the wild and the brave. Twist down the hill towards white sands and your enchanting house awaits serenely on the beach.
Full Description
Hen Dafarn (The Old Tavern) has oodles of ancient character and quirk. Its whitewash age gleams and is a welcome sight in the sun. Getting there is an adventure across the sandy beach (or a walk on the coastal headland path and down), but it’s all part of the fun.
It may seem a little rustic for some but it’s unique and memorable. Find a double bedroom with magnificent sea views and ample space. and a small but perfectly formed bunk bedroom next-door. Across the landing another double room also has sea views from the peephole windows hewn from the stone thick walls.
The kitchen is smart with all the mod cons but with ancient quarry tiles. It’s here right by the beach where you will spend most of your time being captivated, stargazing, or toasting your good fortune over lobster dinner. You won’t have a problem sourcing seafood here. Outdoors is a joy – never a dull moment watching the fisherman pass by and the beach thrive. The harbour shows glimpses of its past – old remnants of a shipping and herring trade can be found by intrepid searchers.
The old tavern was centred around the hearth and that still glows with warmth as it would have done 400 years ago. You can buy ale from Cwrw Llyn up the road and grab a local history book to transport back in time.
