A dog friendly Bolthole right on the shores of the Menai Straits
Back

An island of calm, Eigionfa sits right on the Menai Strait and is well poised for fun. Slap bang in Menai Bridge with great quirky places to eat, shopping and walks along the coast …

Greeted by a wood clad exterior and lush you have ways three paths to follow: Relax, soak in views or cook!

Full Description

The open plan living room is the star of the show. The views are restorative - from your place by the wood stove you can gaze across the Strait to little Islands dotted in the distance and watch the curlews and boats bob.

Sit and muse or bring binoculars to spot birds. The attention to detail is impressive with laid back style and design touches such as locally made lampshades. Shop local and two-minute walk later you can be a proud owner of a similar shade to take home with you! Anglesey Paper Company and Imbue Lighting and Space Like This are one of many independent shops gathering in the little seaside of Menai Bridge.

Or, cook which is plain sailing here in the wonderful modern, and bijou kitchen. A large table offers up convivial meals with the sun room doors open to hear the birds chirp and sound of nature. A whiskey and chat later by an open fire later seems the way to relax.

There is loads of character and no stuffiness as you head to sleep after that meal. Find pale floors that lead down the corridor with restful bedrooms - each with their own style.

A double with light-filled windows and the best sea views. The kids will be in their element with the bunk room with TV, and den potential and ladders to fire their imaginations. Lastly a double bedroom simple, but well designed in serene shades with a smart ensuite shower room to boot.

For blissful soaks, the family bathroom is perfect and a seating area for company is well placed.

Hikes start at the door - lovely coastal walks take you along under the Menai Bridge, a Thomas Telford design triumph, to Church Island.

A 5-minute drive along the winding coastal road takes you to Beaumaris with boat trips along the Menai Strait, great little bistros and antique shops and of course the Castle! Or keep hiking with Penmon set as your goal – amazing dark skies for the astronomers! A 10-minute drive in the opposite direction and you are at Anglesey Sea Zoo and Halen Mon – check out their shop.

Over the bridge and you are at the foot of Snowdonia and adventures unravel before you.

The restaurant scene in Menai Bridge is buzzing and worth a dip into. Dylans has seafront views to go with the mussels and wine. Sosban is Michelin awarded and Freckled Angel serve exquisite tapas style meals. Come home to drinks in the sunny little courtyard and recline outside on the sofa- great for basking and lazy evenings in. Or if the weather is foul just hunker down around the wood-burner and enjoy the views.

You will feel right at home here.

Things to do

"We really enjoyed our stay and spent hours enjoying the view, watching the swans and the tide. Lovely accommodation, a fantastic base for a trip to Anglesey. We'd love to come back again."
"We've stayed in many holiday homes over the years and this is well up there with the best. We're celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We met as students in Bangor in the 70s so this is a very happy place for us. The location of the house is perfect, we've enjoyed watching the tides and the wildlife particularly. Thank you!"
"Thank you for a lovely stay. Such a great location, we were fascinated by the tides, especially on the Spring equinox. The little walk along the coast to church island is wonderful."
