A dog-friendly Bolthole for four with stunning sea views
Back

Cosy retreat with ocean views and a pub just a five-minute hop; walk the coastal path, spot seals in the cove below and dine out at the Lobster Pot.

This whitewashed cottage sits on a hill only yards from the coast, with sea views from the living room and the patio. It is set next to two other cottages but has been cleverly designed to feel private.

Full Description

Inside the kitchen, light cascades through patio glass doors and all is simple, modern and top notch, from the swish, new kitchen and shiny bathrooms to the TVs in each room. Sit out in your own little garden with the sea and Holyhead Mountain as an inspiring backdrop. Laze away the days on comfy leather couches in the first-floor sitting room: TV, books and stunning sunset views. Bedrooms are simple and fresh with a nautical feel and TVs for lazy days.

Head straight out the door to join the coastal path 200 yards away; there are two stunning beaches within a 20-minute walk of the cottage – the closest, at Church Bay, is five minutes to build sandcastles, run the dog and watch the sun go down. At the end of the lane there is parking at Church Bay useful for surfers and families with young ones. If trawling the rock pools for supper has failed, you can buy locally caught crab and seafood at The Lobster Pot at Church Bay. Or you can simply sit and enjoy Grandma Hudson’s apple pie and custard at the Wavecrest Cafe there. The Coffee House shop in Llanfaethlu is about three miles away for breakfast papers and basics.

Within easy driving distance is the port of Holyhead for day trips to Ireland or take a hike up Snowdonia. Holyhead Mountain may be less strenuous and the views are just as awesome

Things to do

"Today the weather was still sunny but more breezy - enjoyed watching Holyhead Port re-open and lovely to see ferries in and out of the port after a few weeks absence due to port damage. We visited a very windy but sunny Rhosneigr today before travelling to Trearddur Bay for a walk across the bay. Finally, headed to our favourite place, Rhoscolyn, walked across the bay to the village before heading uphill to the Coastguard Station - clear sunny day, yet windy! Finishing off with a lovely meal @ The White Eagle - very dog friendly, lots of treats for Kyla too! Ended the day with a lovely evening stroll to Church Bay. Ending a lovely week! Lovely house, amazing views and very comfy bed for a great nights sleep, highly recommending to friends."
"Lovely stay - thank you - far too short. Beautiful, clean, cosy house, thank you for sharing. Recommend the Cemlyn and Llanrhwydrus circular walk from the black welcome folder, also the fish and chip shop in Cemaes Bay High Street. Thank you."
"This is our first time in this part of Wales, and we needed a restful holiday, so we couldn't have picked a more perfect location. So peaceful, and despite some misty weather, still blessed with spectacular views of the sea and out to Holyhead. The house is very comfortable and had all we needed. Church Bay is a wonderful place, lovely local pub, and we got to enjoy a fantastic last supper at The lobster Pot. we will return, no doubt. Thanks."
"Fantastic place to stay, beautiful location with amazing views. Walking distance to the beach and local restaurant and cafe. Can walk straight out onto coast path. Very well stocked kitchen and comfortable well equipped house. Responsive to questions, really friendly staff at boltholes and hideaways. Would highly recommend. Great base to explore Anglesey from."
