Garden Cottage
A garden cottage hideaway for four with sea and mountain views
Far from the madding crowd, in the gardens of a laid back country house, our secret Garden Cottage, which sleeps four, is the stuff of green-fingered dreams.
Built for the gardener by the Massey family over 150 years ago, Garden Cottage nestles quietly at the back of Cornelyn Manor with walled gardens and views over the Strait.
The creative Massey sisters recorded the plant life of Anglesey – in Latin, English and in Welsh, a rarity in itself. These beautiful drawings can be admired at Oriel Ynys Mon, a must for all who stay.
Not all old, some modern artisans have been hard at work and created a bespoke kitchen which highlights the beauty of the natural world, its soft lines will encourage feasts.
With open plan living all can stretch out and relax. Large sofas and a dining table await celebrations and allow a get-together. A wide-open space that can grow should the numbers increase (check out Cornelyn and Saroda Apartments in the Manor house for family and friends an extra four to dinner).
Pause a moment in the garden room on days when the wind nips or the rain nourishes the greenery. Eat breakfast on the patio with a view on sunny days or have a barbeque gathered around the picnic table, with shade for those so inclined – enjoy the annual charcoal feast. With stunning views across to the sea and mountains, all awaiting your gaze. Even the dog will love it here and paws for thought.
A shower room downstairs allows beach days to be washed away before lazy moments watching the sun go down, with glass in hand and smiles aplenty.
Upstairs, a bathroom too where long hot baths are readied to soak away the strains of life.
Upstairs are two bedrooms – a twin and king with garden, sea and mountain views. Light-filled and quiet, so gaze at the stars from your beds.
Walk the windy lanes it’s perfect for rewilding. Cycling trails lead away for miles of exploration – Aberlleiniog Castle and onto Penmon Lighthouse where the most delicious cake at the Pilot House Café is a just reward. Nature reserves and beaches abound, an evening stroll to White Beach is a joy in summer where swimming is a must.
Bring the kids, young and old, for big gulps of the freshest air. With acres of grounds to explore and access to a basement gym for enthusiasts free to use. A few days away at Garden Cottage will do you good. A place that will do wonders for your soul.
