Capel Bethel “Dolbadarn” – Llanberis

A magical chapel in the heart of Snowdonia with lakes and mountains on its doorstep

Dolbadarn at Capel Bethel is a holiday house steeped in history and situated in the heart of Llanberis. Restored to the glory it deserves, for those who are prone to emotions, you are forewarned as they will run high! This light-filled Snowdonia chapel grabs at your heartstrings and makes them sing.

Sleeping six, Dolbadarn imbues a true feeling of relaxation. Heading up the magnificent stairs, bathing in the light from the stained glass window,  guests are treated to an enormous open plan living area with views across to the Snowdonia mountains all should explore.

Cooks will delight at the ease of space and joy of chatting to others as huge feasts for all are created. Reach into the wine fridge to replenish and charge your glasses for celebrate you will. Appetites will be enormous with fresh mountain air aplenty. Large sofas welcome exhausted explorers at the end of the day.

Capel Bethel Dolbadarn sleeps six. There are three comfortable bedrooms to choose from – a king with ensuite, a double and a twin room, that becomes a super king upon request. With a family bathroom too, three couples can holiday together for mountain climbs and culinary delights. Families will flourish here too and for those who wish to holiday with others, then Padarn next door sleeps a further eight.

This chapel is called Dolbadarn after the historic castle on the shores of Llyn Padarn. Next door, but part of the original chapel building, sits the meeting house called Padarn, named after the beautiful lake that is within sight of the chapel. Every part of Capel Bethel has been renovated beyond all expectations – sleeping six and eight, so 14 in total, as easy as can be. With private parking for this dog-friendly chapel and a small outside seating area, should you wish to sit quietly, a happier base will be hard to find.

Climb the mountains of Snowdonia unguided or arrange a tour to gain experience. Visit Zip World and zip along the fastest zip line in the world. Velocity is an understatement, and Velocity 2 ensures unforgettable memories as you travel at speeds of over 100mph with breathtaking views surrounding you. Or Bounce Below in an incredible world of coloured lights and nets stretched across a disused mine –  an experience that will make your mouths open in amazement.

Discover the local history surrounding Llanberis  – hike out into the mountains and explore the lakes and secret beaches. Swim, climb, run, bike, paddle, walk, hike – the adrenaline rush is yours to choose.

Book a unique SUP nighttime adventure with Psyched Paddleboarding and let Sian and her team introduce you to this wonderful experience. Snowdonia National Park was awarded Dark Sky Status in 2015 – only 11 have been awarded in the world and this one is on your doorstep!

Once back from the day’s activities, and ready to ignore the calorie count after an active day, those who would rather dine out will find plenty of inviting places to choose from, all within an easy stroll. Book in advance and dine at The Peak, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming and the food is beyond compare using seasonal local produce aplenty.

If you are lucky enough to arrive when Mafon is holding her monthly dinner night, then book quickly. Failing that, a visit to her cafe during the day will not disappoint. Lunches to linger over, cakes to walk that extra mile for and coffee to restore even the most tired of souls.

Prefer to stay in and linger over the beauty of the chapel? Catering at Dolbadarn can be arranged easily and comes highly recommended by many.

Before your day starts in earnest, pile it high breakfasts at Pete’s Eats, and incredible experiences shared by those who have explored Snowdonia before will bring smiles to all who venture in.

Stop at the dog-friendly Penceunant Isaf, a Snowdon cafe, on the Snowdon Path and time will be given to help you find the best routes while you warm yourself by the fire. Dogs their tails to wag as they enjoy the biscuits they are offered as tales are told of explorations made and peaks conquered. A friendlier stop will be hard to find and sound local advice is always a must.

“Beautiful accommodation, we highly recommend staying here, it has been renovated to a great standard. It was spotlessly clean, with everything you could need. Perfect location for exploring Llanberis and Snowdonia. No complaints whatsoever.”

“Chapel Bethel was such an amazing place to stay. Recently renovated to a very high standard and located perfectly for the walk up Snowdon in the heart of Snowdonia. Prior to arriving, the communication with Jackie was great and the level of additional information sent through also very good and very useful. The place had 3 good sized bedrooms, we had 6 adults stay with no complaints. Beds were very comfy and warm. The showers were extremely good (better than ours at home!) and those that used the bath after a long slog up and down snowdon said it was great. The whole place was very clean and tidy too. The open plan area up stairs was a great space to relax, play games and cook. The kitchen facilities were very good with great quality appliances, pots & pans, cutlery, knives – everything needed in a self catering place to great quality. Would definitely come and stay again – thank you for having us.”

“Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend! It’s a brilliant transformation. The rooms are really lovely and comfortable and the bathrooms are very elegant – the showers/bath are good – great water pressure! They were much appreciated after our long walk! The upstairs is very well kitted out – love that you’ve got enough crockery for 2 rounds of meals. You really have thought of most things – the lunch boxes/cling film/aluminium foil. Also well done for having food waste/recycling – very impressive. Wonderful stay! Thank you for our stay!”

“We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful and unique chapel.  The place has everything we needed for the family. The location is magical to explore the landmarks and also to access Anglesey.  What we really liked the most is this holiday accommodation feels like home. Thank you for your hospitality and we are sure we will come back soon!”

“I LOVED my stay here. You did an amazing job to the church. The stained glass window is gorgeous. The beds are soooo comfortable and the pillows are not too soft.  I love it how you took into consideration the cutlery for the young and the adults. The transformation of the chapel into a holiday let is incredible.  Truly amazing. It felt like home. The painting in the house is so precise. The furniture is excellent and cosy and the layout of the stairs is truly spectacular. I can only describe this house in one word UNIQUE! Everything was PERFECT.” Isabella, aged 12 xxx
