Apple Tree Cottage

Apple Tree Cottage is a Grade II listed dog friendly cottage in beautiful Beaumaris

Open the door to Apple Tree Cottage and prepare yourself for a wrap around hug. This Grade II listed cottage for 6 has been renovated with so much love that you feel at home immediately.

Elegance abounds

The elegant sitting room has a huge recently discovered fireplace, now filled with a wood burning stove and surrounded by Welsh slate. Sink into one of the comfortable sofas and relax. Look around at the detailed renovations – the Georgian arch guides you through to the kitchen, the door knob that invites you to peek inside the elegant dining room. Little touches abound and you soon realise the owner is a perfectionist who really understands Apple Tree Cottage. The pip was originally planted in 1772 but the tree was pruned beautifully a year ago and has been lovingly nurtured and grown into what you are about to enjoy.

A cook’s kitchen

For cooks who love to create, the kitchen is bursting with everything you could possibly need. Welsh slate worktops envelop an oven and hob that beg to be used once you have sourced some delicious local produce. Choose from Welsh lamb from the surrounding fields or lobsters, mussels or scallops straight from the sea….sprinkled with Anglesey sea salt and savoured slowly as time is on your side. Washing up is a joy with a dishwasher and full scullery off the kitchen. Even this room is finished elegantly. Whoever thought there would be joy in such a room?

Where to eat?

Eat in the kitchen, garden or formal dining room. So lovely to have a choice. The dining room doubles up as a wonderful breakfast room and is bursting with history. Everything has been discovered locally and restored to its current glory. Fine china decorates the table and pays homage to your culinary delights. Sit a while and catch up with friends, stories abound after time apart. Leisurely breakfasts or sumptuous suppers are comforting and cosy in this room.

Spend time with family, much needed as everyday life is so busy these days. Linger over another glass of wine or slip back through to the sitting room and curl up in front of the fire. Another story, another log on the fire. The night creeps in beckoning you to climb the stairs to bed.

Time for bed

Wind your way up the Grade II listed Chinese Chippendale staircase to two elegantly dressed double bedrooms that sit proudly at the front of the house. Both have beds to sink into ready to sleep the sleep of those who have felt the sea air. Deep sleep is guaranteed after adventurous walks and historic explorations.

At the back of the house, overlooking the most beautiful garden, is a bedroom with a super king bed that can be made into twin beds upon request. Scoot into bed and leave the curtains open so you can be the first up in the hope of spotting the resident red squirrels or happy birds perched in the apple tree, singing good morning to all.

The final room houses the splendid new bathroom with large walk in shower and sumptuous bath, you will be guaranteed to relax in here. Long lazy baths at the end of fun-filled days or invigorating showers to wake sleepy heads up ready to tackle the next adventure.

Marvellous garden

Garden lovers, of the two and four legged variety, will be in utter awe of the garden. Filled to the brim with flowers that keep on blooming as the seasons progress. Aconites, hellebores, snowdrops, daffodils, apple blossom and anemones followed by roses that scent the evening air.

Dine outside wrapped in scent or nip into the potting shed that is so beautiful, painted in Farrow and Ball green blue, and beckons the garden in. Look at the detail within the “shed” – the borders are made from old screens rescued from afar and nurtured back to life with all the plants that will tickle your senses and make a quiet cup of coffee all the more enjoyable. Wander back along the path and nip into the outside loo, no need to venture back inside until you are ready! Honestly, everything is here to make your life so utterly blissful!

Plenty to see and do

Once you are ready to venture out, there is plenty to explore within easy walking distance. A slow stroll along Church Street, with longing glances in shops along the way brings you to Castle Street where you will find an abundance of shops, pubs and restaurants.  Beaumaris Castle anchors the town and proves an interesting morning for avid castle lovers. With incredible panoramic views none will be disappointed.

Apple Tree Cottage is a flip flop away from the incredible seaside views which Beaumaris is famous for.  Beaumaris Pier draws you along its boards beckoning you to look across the Menai Strait to the Snowdonia mountains, admiring the sailors as the bob about in boats galore.  Penmon Lighthouse is a 10 minute drive along the coast or an enjoyable boat ride away, and is much admired by all who visit.  So central is Beaumaris that any Anglesey destination can be explored by day and once showered and refreshed all may walk to an incredible selection of restaurants and pubs without a worry about who is driving back ! Bliss.

“5 stars just aren’t enough! We had an amazing week in this gorgeous gem of a cottage.  The site photos are lovely but even they don’t do its old-world charm justice.  There’s everything you need plus we found a few treats waiting for us too, which was a lovely touch. The garden was fabulous & we spent a lot of time sitting out there, our schnauzer Max was a big fan.  Beaumaris itself is one of our favourite places to visit but this is the first time we’ve actually stayed there. Echo Beach is our favourite shop – gorgeous local art & crafts.  Highly recommend the Bishopsgate & the Liverpool Arms for an evening meal and the Welsh cream tea at the Bulkeley Hotel. The Ship Inn at Red Wharf Bay is another must!  We took a lovely Starida cruise to Puffin Island to see the grey seals.  The far-reaching beaches at Rhosneigr & Red Wharf Bay provided some lovely strolls.  We’d been trying to book here for a long time & it was well worth the wait!. We couldn’t have picked anywhere better to celebrate M’ss 60th birthday – it was a wonderful holiday.”

“A warm and welcome Christmas, lovely decorations made it feel very special. The cottage is cosy and warm and super to come back to after a long walk to relax in front of the fire.  A really  enjoyable Christmas in lovely surroundings.” (Christmas 2018)

“Thank you for a lovely weekend!”

“We were blessed with the most wonderful weather! The cottage is gorgeous, well equipped and charming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were lucky to see a red squirrel in the trees behind the house.  Beaumaris is quiet at this time of year and perfect for a relaxing break.  Beaches over toward Moelfre are fantastic and Ann’s Pantry in Moelfre does a good lunch.   Would love to visit again.”

“What a fabulous relaxing week we have had at this gorgeous little cottage! Apple Tree Cottage was the perfect haven. Every inch of this house has been expertly thought through and the attention to detail was very much appreciated.  The decor, colours and collection of treasures were a feast for the eyes.  We have fallen in love with “Pip”.  Thank you for the extra treats, the Prosecco, coffee and cake lifted our spirits – our son and his girlfriend stayed for the first night and did not want to leave.  Our beds were comfy, the bath was my sanctuary and our Molly loved the unique garden and managed not to get “knocked out” by one of the falling apples.  We look forward to returning in the future, perhaps to experiece a different season at your quirky house.”

“Thank you for yet another stay in your wonderful cottage. We have loved every minute of it.  You have created such a happy place and it is so kind of you to let us share it.  We will never tire of coming to stay here.  Apple Tree Cottage has a magic that makes life worth living.  Thank you for letting us be part of the dream. With every good wish for your continued success.”

“Thank you for a wonderful stay in your beautiful cottage. We came to help Michele celebrate her 50th birthday and what a celebration it has been.  The vintage tea party was out of this world.  We are all going home a stone heavier.  The cottage is lovely and a real credit to you. Hope to be back soon.”

“Thank you for allowing us to share your wonderful cottage. From the moment we arrived Apple Tree Cottage has not failed to impress – from the spotlessly clean rooms, to the comforts everywhere, not to mention the little gems of style and craft and hanging fish. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with its fantastic location, and our time on Anglesey as there is always so much to see and do, and we definitely hope to be back soon! With many thanks.”

” We had a wonderful week in this charming house full of interesting period features and an amazing garden in the back. Great proximity to the town of Beaumaris and easy access to the rest of the island. Visited our favourite haunts: Newborough Beach, the Coastal path near Moelfre and the Bistro at the Bull, which has had a much needed make over.   All these things here made for a nice, relaxing stay of which this house is a fabulous feature.”

“Lovely stay for Whit Week with our little pug sproodle, Nell, and teenage boys Freddie and Sam.  We LOVED the kitchen and scullery arrangement and oddly the outside loo (quite a novelty)!  Good for all ages!

“Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to share your cottage. Our two dogs Yuki and Unji loved it.  Yuki especially liked hunting for spiders and all other moving things in the garden.  Loved the prosecco and treats. Beds were very comfortable.  We will come again.”

“What a beautiful cottage, great location, everything we could possibly want for a long weekend away.  The cottage was spotless, and the finishing touches of the dog bed and treats went down very well with Alfie and Bertie. Not to mention the “human” treats too! Thank you, and we hope to return soon.

“Thank you for a wonderful Easter week. We stayed with our 5 year old who loved exploring the nooks and crannies and secret garden!  The detailed touches were all hugely appreciated – particularly the fresh flowers on arrival. We will be back to Anglesey soon! x

“What an absolutely beautiful hideaway.  A very pretty cottage in a fantastic location.  Thank you for the welcome treats, the little touches make all the difference!  It was lovely to have an open fire every night; the perfect way to deal with the changeable Welsh weather.  Hope to be returning soon!

“Just the most perfect stay at Apple Tree Cottage to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday. We love everything about the cottage – it’s warmth, quirkiness, fabulous characterful decor and enchanting garden. The only downside is we have to leave!……Milo, our cockapoo, has loved his comfy bed, blanket and all the treats. We cannot thank you enough for allowing us to share your beautiful cottage – we leave with many happy memories, refreshed and relaxed, without a care in the world! Warmest wishes to all involved with this very special place.”

“A fantastic cottage with every need catered for, beautiful and cosy. Thank you James for all the lovely additional touches you have added, prosecco and provisions etc.  We have stayed in many cottages around the UK over the years and this is the best ever yet.  Well done and we will return. See you soon x”

“What a delightful cottage! Very cosy, love the garden, and listening to an owl every evening.  The week was spent on many beach walks then evenings in front of the wood burner.  We had the odd sunny morning when we enjoyed coffee in the garden listening to the birds.”
