A Grade II listed dog-friendly cottage in beautiful Beaumaris

Description

Open the door to Apple Tree Cottage and prepare yourself for a wrap around hug. This Grade II listed cottage for 6 has been renovated with so much love that you feel at home immediately.

Elegance abounds

The elegant sitting room has a huge recently discovered fireplace, now filled with a wood burning stove and surrounded by Welsh slate. Sink into one of the comfortable sofas and relax. Look around at the detailed renovations – the Georgian arch guides you through to the kitchen, the door knob that invites you to peek inside the elegant dining room. Little touches abound and you soon realise the owner is a perfectionist who really understands Apple Tree Cottage. The pip was originally planted in 1772 but the tree was pruned beautifully a year ago and has been lovingly nurtured and grown into what you are about to enjoy.

A cook's kitchen

For cooks who love to create, the kitchen is bursting with everything you could possibly need. Welsh slate worktops envelop an oven and hob that beg to be used once you have sourced some delicious local produce. Choose from Welsh lamb from the surrounding fields or lobsters, mussels or scallops straight from the sea….sprinkled with Anglesey sea salt and savoured slowly as time is on your side. Washing up is a joy with a dishwasher and full scullery off the kitchen. Even this room is finished elegantly. Whoever thought there would be joy in such a room?

Where to eat?

Eat in the kitchen, garden or formal dining room. So lovely to have a choice. The dining room doubles up as a wonderful breakfast room and is bursting with history. Everything has been discovered locally and restored to its current glory. Fine china decorates the table and pays homage to your culinary delights. Sit a while and catch up with friends, stories abound after time apart. Leisurely breakfasts or sumptuous suppers are comforting and cosy in this room.

Spend time with family, much needed as everyday life is so busy these days. Linger over another glass of wine or slip back through to the sitting room and curl up in front of the fire. Another story, another log on the fire. The night creeps in beckoning you to climb the stairs to bed.

Time for bed

Wind your way up the Grade II listed Chinese Chippendale staircase to two elegantly dressed double bedrooms that sit proudly at the front of the house. Both have beds to sink into ready to sleep the sleep of those who have felt the sea air. Deep sleep is guaranteed after adventurous walks and historic explorations.

At the back of the house, overlooking the most beautiful garden, is a twin bedroom that becomes a superking upon request. Scoot into bed and leave the curtains open so you can be the first up in the hope of spotting the resident red squirrels or happy birds perched in the apple tree, singing good morning to all.

The final room houses the splendid new bathroom with large walk in shower and sumptuous bath, you will be guaranteed to relax in here. Long lazy baths at the end of fun filled days or invigorating showers to wake sleepy heads up ready to tackle the next adventure.

Marvellous garden

Garden lovers, of the two and four legged variety, will be in utter awe of the garden. Filled to the brim with flowers that keep on blooming as the seasons progress. Aconites, hellebores, snowdrops, daffodils, apple blossom and anemones followed by roses that scent the evening air.

Dine outside wrapped in scent or nip into the potting shed that is so beautiful, painted in Farrow and Ball green blue, and beckons the garden in. Look at the detail within the “shed” – the borders are made from old screens rescued from afar and nurtured back to life with all the plants that will tickle your senses and make a quiet cup of coffee all the more enjoyable. Wander back along the path and nip into the outside loo, no need to venture back inside until you are ready! Honestly, everything is here to make your life so utterly blissful!

Plenty to see and do

Once you are ready to venture out, there is plenty to explore within easy walking distance. A slow stroll along Church Street, with longing glances in shops along the way brings you to Castle Street where you will find an abundance of shops, pubs and restaurants. Beaumaris Castle anchors the town and proves an interesting morning for avid castle lovers. With incredible panoramic views none will be disappointed.

Apple Tree Cottage is a flip flop away from the incredible seaside views which Beaumaris is famous for. Beaumaris Pier draws you along its boards beckoning you to look across the Menai Strait to the Snowdonia mountains, admiring the sailors as the bob about in boats galore. Penmon Lighthouse is a 10 minute drive along the coast or an enjoyable boat ride away, and is much admired by all who visit. So central is Beaumaris that any Anglesey destination can be explored by day and once showered and refreshed all may walk to an incredible selection of restaurants and pubs without a worry about who is driving back! Bliss.

What people say about this cottage

“What a fabulous relaxing week we have had at this gorgeous little cottage! Apple Tree Cottage was the perfect haven. Every inch of this house has been expertly thought through and the attention to detail was very much appreciated. The decor, colours and collection of treasures were a feast for the eyes. We have fallen in love with “Pip”. Thank you for the extra treats, the Prosecco, coffee and cake lifted our spirits – our son and his girlfriend stayed for the first night and did not want to leave. Our beds were comfy, the bath was my sanctuary and our Molly loved the unique garden and managed not to get “knocked out” by one of the falling apples. We look forward to returning in the future, perhaps to experience a different season at your quirky house.”

We enjoyed a wonderful week over the New Year in Apple Tree Cottage in Beaumaris. It's the second rental we've booked through Boltholes and Hideaways and was exactly as they described on their website. It was cosy, well equipped with lovely comfortable beds and a perfect base from which to enjoy all that Anglesey has to offer. I've always found Sam and Catherine extremely helpful and very prompt in dealing with any email inquiries. We will be back for sure.

We have really enjoyed our stay in your beautiful house. Apple Tree Cottage is ideally situated for visitors to enjoy all the attractions of Beaumaris. It is extremely comfortable and provides everything needed for a restful and stress-free stay. A unique feature is the wonderful furnishings - a delight for anyone who loves history, antiques or just living in pleasant surroundings. Added to all of this is the fascinating garden which gets the sun all day. We rate Appletree 5 stars. PS Bangor has an excellent Oxfam bookshop.

We really enjoyed our stay in Apple Tree cottage and would recommend it to anyone. Everything was provided and to a high standard which made it like home from home. The owner was lovely and very helpful. We would definitely use the cottage again and also book any other accommodation through Boltholes and Hideaways.
