Capel Bethel – “Padarn” – Llanberis
A magical meeting house for eight in the heart of Llanberis, Snowdonia
Padarn at Capel Bethel is situated in the heart of Llanberis, just a short stroll away from Llyn Padarn. And with Snowdon visible from your kitchen window, you will not be short of a view.
Padarn is a much loved renovation project for all to enjoy. Feast your eyes on the beautiful panelling upcycled to ensure her soul is still in the heart of the building. Beautifully crafted so the essence of the original meeting house is still very much felt by all who take time to look and listen.
The flexibility of all bedrooms makes dog-friendly Padarn a joy to stay in. Sleeping eight, there are four bedrooms. Downstairs are two king sized bedrooms and a twin that upon request becomes another king for two. A shower room and separate bathroom cater for walkers of mountains and swimmers of lakes. Up the stairs is another bedroom, which can be a twin or king, depending on your preference.
Further up the stunning stairs, past books to borrow is a kitchen that shouts out luxury. Wine chiller and large range cooker are ready for eager chefs to spoil those with hearty appetites. A large cupboard is primed with glasses ready to charge and china cups for moments of sheer uninterrupted peace.
Up again to stunning ceilings, the crown of this chapel’s meeting house, sits a large dining table with views of Snowdon in all her glory. Map out your plans and entertain all with mountain exploits already achieved or tails borrowed with a pinch of salt and dash of hope. Opposite, deep Chesterfields await tired bodies ready for bed; just one more sip of wine to celebrate this amazing building, the heart of Llanberis past and a celebration for years to come.
Nearby are mountains aplenty and deep lakes worth exploring too – who knew there were hidden beaches in The Snowdonia National Park to sit back on and watch the world float by? Mountain boots or kayaks, dog leads or hands to hold – all to bring smiles to those who stay.
Grab a ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway to whisk you to the highest point in Wales – well practised too after 200 years of steady service. Along the way history shouts to all who listen – the Llanberis Slate Museum and Electric Mountain Visitors Centre are fascinating and so worth a visit too. Adrenaline lovers will flock to Zip World for a ride on Velocity with views to be in awe of. Such beauty and speed combined, a perfect combination. For those with a need to bounce then Bounce Below you go to explore caverns with lights to amuse all.
For dog owners, Padarn is a joy to stay at with walks on the doorstep and space to stretch out. There is a mass of dog-friendly restaurants and pubs nearby. Fellow explorers are welcomed and spoilt – dog bowls and biscuits offered with smiles and tickles. Tails set to wag more slowly as tired dogs lie back and rest, while those who chat swap stories of challenges of past and future.
Return you must and next time bring your friends and family all – for next door sits Capel Bethel’s sister, Dolbadarn. With meeting house and chapel too this huge renovation is understood fully.
Together Padarn and Dolbadarn sleep 14 and gatherings become a joy. A true celebration.
