Orsedd Uchaf

Dog-friendly Welsh farmhouse with enchanting gardens, close to the coast

Tumbledown the track to Orsedd Uchaf (High Throne) and break free in your country bolthole where birds tweet and the stars shine brightly. Families with children will love the acre of heaven where you are encouraged to explore and dens are for the making.  Adventures galore are to be had and wildlife to spot. This is a place to step back and take stock: relax by the wood stove or at the window seat, which overlooks the cottage garden – secluded and south-west facing, a lovely spot for a summer barbecue. A small posse of cattle merrily thrives next door surrounded by fields. They love it here, as will you.

The style is a mix of modern and vintage: smartly upholstered sofas and lovely time-worn pieces make it calming, cosy and easy to relax in with the family. The main bedroom is light an airy with country views, another has a double bed. Children will love the bunk bedroom with sea views (adults may too as they are full sized beds). A small twin is perfectly formed. For now, there is just one bathroom so plan carefully the visits in the morning!

Plenty of room too in the porches for outdoorsy things: bikes, body boards, buckets, spades and crabbing nets.

For cosy nights in, books, games, DVDs and a games room. For nights out you are a bit off the beaten track at Orsedd Uchaf but Church Bay is a five-minute drive and has a pub there with views and of course the renowned Lobster Pot restaurant. Cemaes Bay a ten-minute drive away has an award-winning fish and chip shop and the Gadlys for food.

The sea is wonderfully close – Church Bay and Borthwen have beaches, tea and cakes or hop in the car to explore Cemlyn a bird watcher’s haven. Cemaes Bay is a stunning harbour village so pop to see the Time and Tide bell and buy a fish and chip supper – they have won awards.

A snug of a nest.

The gardens are extensive with a vegetable patch and formal borders. They are fenced and have a gate to keep children and dogs safe. However, as with all gardens, these should be assessed first on arrival for any potential risks/hazards. Please call for a chat for further information.

Please note there is a large mobile mast/pylon in the acre garden/woods.  There are also outbuildings that are dilapidated and may pose a risk should children venture inside them. They are not fenced off.

New property, comments to follow.
